Wild dogs seen on Manyara Ranch Conservancy

It’s not so often that guests doing a safari on the Northern Circuit in Tanzania get to see wild dogs – sometimes in the Serengeti – and only then if they are very lucky.

Even in reserves well known for wild dogs – like The Selous – sightings can be unreliable and usually the more one looks the more difficult they are to see – sometimes enticingly ‘belling’ (communicating with each other) but staying hidden from sight.

Therefore a nice surprise the other day for the guests staying at Manyara Ranch Conservancy to have great sightings of a pack of five wild dog – very relaxed and playing together – obviously enjoying the peace and absence of humans and vehicles in the 35,000 acre conservation area. Luckily we have some pics to  confirm the sighting.
