The creation of African Luxury Hideaways first new eco-lodge, Elephant’s Eye, Hwange is progressing on Schedule to be completed by the end of May, being watched closely by a troop of baboons that is currently sheltering in the trees near the lodge site. Their morning wakeup call means that everyone is up in time to start work and to see the breath-taking sunrise over the forest in front of the camp. The forest is home to herds of elephants that spend their days being shade by the branches of the Zambezi Tick trees.
A hard morning’s work on the lodge does not deter the elephants who venture closer during lunch as if to inspect the progress.
The end of the day is time to put the tools down and feet up, and there is nothing better than relaxing around an open fire for dinner and watching the sunset. As the sun goes down the massive waterhole at the camp comes alive with game. The plains game is first, shortly followed by the elephants that are keeping a keen eye on the changes at the camp. Darkness sets in and the hyenas giggle as they take control of the waterhole.
Tomorrow brings another day of perfect sunrises and sunsets and the surprises of which animals decide to show their faces and come to inspect the progress. The end of May is not far away and Elephant’s Eye, Hwange is well on track to be open by then.
Victoria Falls Cliff Top Lodge will follow shortly with completion due by 1st August 2013.
