Tarangire Treetops – 11/12 December 2012
Just over two hours driving from Arusha (100 kms on good tarmac road and 30 kms on unmade ‘country roads’) – it’s pleasant – especially on the off-road section where one encounters Maasai life as it is lived in the rural areas.
Treetops is looking very nice – very well maintained and everywhere very green. There are now ‘walkie-talkies’ in all rooms so that guests are able to contact the main area. The tree platforms are very luxurious with bath robes, hairdrier, fan, personal security safe and 24 hour electricity – in fact everything one would expect when sleeping ‘up a tree’.
Very good game and bird sighting in the national park especially large herds of elephant and a lot of European migrant bird species – just to make this group feel at home!
Tarangire Sopa Lodge is just completing its refurbishment of 40 (of the 75) suites and they will be ready for sale next week. The new rooms look very nice – cool tiled floors – replacing the carpets- new bathrooms, new furniture and the whole ambiance looking very cool and light. We were very impressed. Phase two – the remaining 35 suites will be done in the low season months of April and May.
Lunch beside the pool was great with excellent service
